Modern homes are asking a lot more from their electrical systems. HVAC upgrades, tankless water heaters, EV chargers - these aren't small loads. When a West Seattle homeowner needed to add all three, their existing 200 amp service simply wasn't going to cut it. So we upgraded the whole thing to 320 amp service.

A 320 amp setup is exactly what it sounds like - significantly more capacity than a standard 200 amp panel. That headroom matters. It means every new appliance and system in the home has what it needs to run safely, without tripping breakers or creating dangerous load situations. No workarounds, no crossed fingers.

We also added whole-home surge protection as part of this install. That's one of those things that often gets overlooked until something expensive gets fried. A single power surge can take out an HVAC system, a Tesla charger, or anything else plugged into the home. Surge protection at the service entry point covers everything at once - it's a smart layer of defense on top of a freshly upgraded system.

The new meter base and service equipment are mounted clean and tight to the exterior of the home. Everything is properly conduit-run, labeled, and ready for inspection. That's not just about aesthetics - a clean installation is easier to service, easier to inspect, and built to last.

This is the kind of work we do when a home's needs grow faster than its original electrical system was designed to handle. Whether it's an EV charger, a new HVAC system, or a full electrification push, getting the service capacity right from the start is what makes everything else work the way it should.
